Arriving at Portsmouth Theory Test Centre

Public transport is great because getting to the test centre is very easy. You can easily travel to the test centre by public transport. If you want to go by bus, you can use the Civic Offices bus stops.

There is a parking garage near the test center. It costs $2 an hour. It takes about six minutes to get there by foot.

Bus

You must have lived in England for at least 185 days over the past year before taking your driving test.

What is the theory test pass mark?

The pass mark for the car test is 86%, you need to get at least 43 correct answers out of 50 multiple choice question to pass the test. You must also pass the hazard perception test, and you need to score 44 out of 75 points to pass the test.

Bus and lorry drivers

Drivers who commit dangerous driving offences lose all their driving rights for life. Their licences are suspended until they prove they've been rehabilitated.

You may be refused your driving license if you have been convicted of drunk driving or other serious traffic offences. You must pass a driving test for each new category of vehicle you wish to drive. Your driving licence may be restored without further requirements in exceptional circumstances.

A vocational driving licence can‘t be issued without a full valid car driving license. When you lose your car entitlement, you lose your vocational entitlement too. You need to reapply for a provisional licence after losing your car entitlement.

ATTENDING THE THEORY TEST

You should bring your provisional driving licence when you go to your theory test. Your old-style paper licence doesn't count as a valid form of ID. A valid passport or new driving licence with a photo card is required if you don't already have one.

You must present proof of identity before taking the theory test. Failure to do so will result in losing your test booking fee. Your licence will be sent to you if you misplace it. To obtain a new licence, contact the DVSA.
