Determined to Pass? Then Get Those Nerves Under Control

If you’re about to take your practical driving test, you may be feeling a little nervous – it’s completely normal. ‘Test anxiety’ is a common condition often experienced by those being monitored on their performance, such as in situations like the UK driving test, school examinations, or sports competitions, for example. Test anxiety is sometimes praised as being beneficial in certain situations, with many claiming that the added stress acts as a motivator, encouraging a desire to study and prepare, and ultimately raising confidence. However, in a driving test environment, it could be that test anxiety is, in fact, detrimental. Could being nervous really mean the difference between a pass and a fail?

The UK Driving Test Turns 80! So What’s Changed?

2014 marks an impressive 80 years since plans were introduced to perform official road tests for those owning or using motor vehicles on UK roads, while 2015 marks 80 years since road testing became compulsory for drivers.
