Wales is a beautiful country, offering wonderful views and some very pretty towns and villages. If you like a trip with something new to see every time that you turn the corner, then Wales is a great place for drivers.
The Sights of Wales
Whether you enjoy castles, churches, or pretty towns, Wales has a lot to offer. Visit the Roman Legion Museum at Caerleon, if you want a flavour of what life was like in that area for people living under Roman rule. The area has one of the three remaining Roman fortresses in the UK, and 2,000 years ago, it provided housing for 5,000 legionnaires.
If you have a spare couple of weeks then it’s possible to drive around the country to see the many different attractions, as well as the scenic beauty of Wales. If you’ve only got a weekend, there is still plenty to see if you plan your journey ahead of time. Spring is a great time to visit North Wales when the flowers are blooming.
See the Villages
If you dream about driving through pretty villages then Wales has a lot to offer. You can see village life at its best in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. Visit Pembrokeshire to see what is said to be the smallest church in the UK, and enjoy the glorious fields and flowers.
Pembrokeshire has plenty to offer visitors with its rolling hills and, not far away, the sea and sandy beaches. The area has many historic sites, and festivals during the warmer months, so there is something for everyone. If you are planning a longer trip then there are plenty of B&Bs and small hotels in the Welsh villages, and you can enjoy a more relaxed pace of life while you are there.
The Castles
Wales has plenty of historic buildings, including a number of castles. If you are interested in history then why not visit Penrhyn Castle in Bangor. You can enjoy the wonderful scenery in and around the area and see one of the UK’s finest castles.
Legends
Wales is a part of the UK that enjoys a long history of myths and legends. In fact, 2017 is the Year of Legends in Wales. It’s a country that has long been associated with the legends of King Arthur. The king and his entourage are associated with many different sites, including caves and mountains that you will find all over Wales. See the wonderful standing stones and learn of the myths associated with them. Visit Beddgelert and learn more about the myths of the Celtic magician Merlin, and the fight between the red and white dragons. Wales has a lot to offer visitors, and it’s a great place to explore for yourself on your drive through the country.
